Son of the Solar System

We've just entered some work into a design competition that could see one of our headpieces worn by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs at Bestival this summer.

A bit about our submission:
' Son of the Solar System '
" Drawing inspiration from mythology, religious ritual, geology and science fiction, our props transform the body and physical space in order to create ornate, otherworldly imagery.
Listening to T.E.E.D in our studio while we work, it’s impossible not to nod or dance along, as if in a trance or under a spell. Taking inspiration from that, we’ve designed a headpiece that would be befitting of an interstellar alchemist who descends on Bestival to take the crowd on aural journey using his rhythmic concoctions.
On stage this Sun God headpiece would reflect the lighting, as if emitting its own light. The spikes next to his face would be situated in front of his ears to allow for the use of headphones. Although having the appearance of metal this headpiece would actually be made from thick card, making it easy for Orlando to move and dance around. "

Thanks!

At the end of March we did a test shoot with stylist Janey Robinson and photographer Hannah Garrod at Slaughterhouse Photography Studio in London. Here are a few behind-the-scenes shots to whet your appetite while we add the final shots to our website.

Detail of a couple of our pieces.
For this shoot, most of the fabric used we dyed ourselves

PINS Eleventh Hour - Behind the Scenes

As previously mentioned, Manchester band PINS asked us to make some pieces and style them for the video for their first single, Eleventh Hour. Apart from being lovely girls, they make great music, so we were very happy to get working with them! So, we made them shoulder pieces, collars, harnesses, dresses and tassels...

We worked on this project with the (both) majorly talented director Sing J Lee and cinematographer Davey Gilder on the 5th floor of Islington Mill. It was such a great shoot, and everything looked so beautiful. We really CAN NOT WAIT to see the finalised video, but here are some stills and backstage shots from the day. You'll see Lois being made-over by MUA Corinne Young, who did such a wonderful job, making the girls look suitably sexy and smouldering.

Eleventh Hour is out... soon! Stay tuned to see the video.

Queen of Hearts

This month, we made a costume for the glamorous Lola HiRola, compere of Musical Bingo in London. Based on Alice in Wonderland's Queen of Hearts, we think that Lola looks like a sexy sparkly cupcake!
Holding regular nights at Concrete, Musical Bingo is a very fun way to spend an evening! And with such a well dressed hostess, there's even more reason to give it a try!
